Belmont Briuns
Coach: Rick Byrd
Belmont’s two year supremacy in the Atlantic Sun may be over, yet here we again with the Bruins atop another preseason poll. The key will be how well Keaton Belcher and Matthew Dotson can take over the production of the departing big men. All in all, the Bruins know how to win.
Campbell Fighting Camels
Coach: Robby Laing
Head Coach Robbie Laing enters his fifth season at the helm having guided the Camels to 14 victories last year, their most wins in 11 years. Campbell returns only two starters but Laing had another outstanding recruiting year and if the defense improves, they could be a league contender.
East Tenn St Buccaneers
Coach: Murry Barton
ETSU won 24 games and finished 1st in conference with a 14-2 record last season but lost to Belmont in the conference tourney as Belmont played their best game of the season and went dancing. Murry Bartow is entering his 12th season and has the talent to put last season behind them.
Fla Gulf Coast Eagles
Coach: Dave Balza
The Eagles closed their stay in Division II with a 27-6 record under Head Coach Dave Balza who will be entering his 6th season at Florida Gulf Coast. Three starters return, led by Adam Liddell, who began his career at Purdue and is the team's leading returning scorer at 11.4 ppg.
Gardner-Webb Runnin Bulldogs
Coach: Rick Scruggs
The Runnin' Bulldogs didn't do much runnin' last season averaging only 63.6 ppg, ninth in the A-Sun. Head Coach Rick Scruggs will be entering his 13th season and will need some immediate help from his incoming freshman to improve an last seasons dismal mark.
Jacksonville Dolphins
Coach: Cliff Warren
Head Coach Cliff Warren and Jacksonville put together one of the biggest turnarounds in the country last season, improving from one win to a 15-14 mark. The Dolphins became a team that nobody wanted to face. With 3 returning starters - and a lot of experienced youngsters - they'll likely be that way
Kennesaw St Owls
Coach: Tony Ingle
Tony Ingle enters his 8th season at Kennesaw St having guided the Owls to a 14-18 record and a 9-9 mark in conference. The future is bright as 4 of the Owls' top 7 players will be sophomores, so the opportunity to move forward in the A-Sun is there.
Lipscomb Bison
Coach: Scott Sanderson
Head Coach Scott Sanderson, son of Alabama’s legendary coach Wimp Sanderson, has a catalyst in Eddie Ard, who could lead the Bison to the Atlantic Sun title. Establishing offense will be a major key as will rebounding. With three starters returning Sanderson believes they’ll be much improved.
Mercer Bears
Coach: Bob Hoffman
The Mercer Bears were 13-17 and 8-10 in conference last season for Head Coach Mark Slonaker, who will be entering his 11th season at the helm. They return 4 starters, led by super frosh James Florence, so the pieces appear to be in place for some improvement in their record.
North Florida Ospreys
Coach: Matt Killcullen
As North Florida enters its 3rd season at the Division I level, Matt Kilcullen admits that his squad is a work in progress. After enduring a 3-26 campaign a year ago, he believes that his team has begun to assemble the parts and adopt the mentality to become a contender in the A-Sun.
S.C. Upstate Spartans
Coach: Eddie Payne
USC Upstate and Head Coach Eddie Payne men’s basketball team embarks on a new era and uncharted territory when it opens the 2007-08 season. The Spartans open a new era as a member of NCAA Division I and the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Stetson Hatters
Coach: Derek Waugh
Stetson Head Coach Derek Waugh is entering his 8th the helm and last years squad was young and inexperienced and managed just 11 wins. Waugh knows that more is expected and he believes that the experience gained last season will show in the win-loss in the 07-08 campaign.
