Scott Drew will be entering his fifth season as Head Coach for the Baylor Bears and this is clearly the most experienced and talented squad in recent memory. The Bears finished with a 15-16 record last season but improved as the year progressed and with five starters returning are poised to be tournament bound when season ends.

The Guards –All three starting guards return for the Bears, sophomore point guard Tweedy Carter 8.7 ppg, and combo guards 6-3 senior Aaron Bruce 11.3 ppg and 3.4 apg and 61 junior Curtis Jerrells 15.0 ppg and 3.8 apg. Sixth-man Henry Dugat, a 6 foot junior who averaged 11.7 points per game will also see ample playing time. Incoming freshmen 6-4 LaceDarius Dunn is the highest-rated recruit in school history and will immediately enter the rotation at guard.

The Forwards –The power forward position will be locked up by returning starter Kevin Rogers, a 6-9 junior. Rogers was easily Baylor's most improved player last season, he led the team in rebounding and was second in scoring with 12.8 ppg and 7.6 rpg. Backing of Rogers will be junior college transfer Delbert Simpson, Senior Mark Shepherd and redshirt freshman Penny Thiam.

The Center -- Back to anchor the center position is starter Mamadou Diene, a 7-0 junior and key reserve Josh Lomers. Diene is a prolific shot blocker and a big presence on the defensive end, Lomers, a 7-0 sophomore battled injuries last season and hopefully his productivity will increase this season if he can remains healthy.

The non-conference Schedule includes match-ups with Washington State at home, road dates with South Carolina and Arkansas and three games at the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands. With five starters returning much will be expected this season, Baylor last played in the NCAA tournament in 1988, so the anticipation is high in Waco. The Bears will find a way to win 22 games and receive that long-overdue bid.
