Karl Hobbs begins his seventh year as Head Coach at George Washington, last season he guided the Colonials to a 23-9 record and the A-10 tournament title. With only two starters returning this year's team will have a decidedly new look when they take the court in 07. The road to the postseason will likely be much more difficult this year, as the A-10 conference figures to be much improved from last season.

The Guards -- The Colonials backcourt will be led by A-10 tournament MVP Maurecce Rice, the powerfully built 6-1 guard averaged 15.9 ppg last season and was quite accurate from behind the three-point arc hitting 43% of his shots. Joining Rice in the backcourt will be sophomore Travis King at the point. A pair of promising freshman guards, Miles Beatty a 6-1 point guard and Xavier Alexander a 6-6 wing, will be called on to contribute.

The Forwards -- George Washington will have a solid group at the forward slots, it's a young, deep group with a great deal of upside. Rob Diggs is a returning starter at one spot, the junior averaged 10.5 ppg and 5.0 rpg and possesses outstanding quickness. 6-8 sophomore Damion Hollis was an all A-10 rookie team selection and gained international experience this summer playing for the USA’s under 19 men’s basketball team. Also contributing this year will be Cheyenne Moore, a Clemson transfer with two years of eligibility left and 6-7 Wynton Witherspoon, the junior is a transfer from Virginia Tech.

The Center -- GW will have a trio of large but untested players in the middle, 6-10 Jabari Edwards and 6-11 Joseph Katuka are both freshmen and will be joined by Herman Opoku, a sophomore who saw limited playing time last season.

The Colonials will face a challenging non-conference Schedule this season with games at UCLA, Virginia Tech and Alabama, they also play Auburn, so the team will be well tested when conference play begins. GW will once again play an up-tempo style, Hobbs has a keen eye for talent and he will have this team headed in the right direction. Look for a roller coaster season this campaign; this is a young squad that will struggle at times. This is a middle of the pack team which will win 16 games andl receive no post-season bid.
