The Bears came on very fast in Head Coach Todd Bozeman's first year at the helm. Bozeman did a great job of turning a losing program around in only one season, and he has established a winning atmosphere at Morgan State. Bozeman has brought in a great recruiting class, led by a number of strong players from the Baltimore area that should make all the difference as they look to improve on last seasons 13 game win total.
The Guards -- Sophomore Reggie Holmes who averaged 9.0 ppg 2.2 rpg made the all rookie team, and Jamar Smith averaged 12.6 ppg and 4.9 rpg, will be returning starters in the backcourt. Look for seniors Jerrel Green and Rogers Barnes to be key contributors in the backcourt.
The Forwards -- Look for a trio of recruits to see time in the forecourt this season, 6-5 ameer Ali, 6-6 Marquise Kately and 6-8 Kevin Thompson.
The Center -- Senior center Boubacar Coly came on strong late in the season, making the all tournament team as the Bears advanced to the semifinals. The Bears signed 6-10 LaMarcus Lowe and expect immediate dividends from him.
Morgan St will play a Schedule that is quite tame be MEAC standards. Road games at Miami, Maryland and Seton Hall along with a trip to the Cable Car Classic highlight the non-conference slate. The Bears still some talent on board and Bozeman made quite the difference in his first season with the Bears, taking them from a four win disaster to a team that appears ready to factor into the race. Look for a good jump in the win total and Morgan St will end the season with 19 victories.
