Head Coach - Joe Glenn enters his fifth season at the helm and this appears to be the season that the Cowboys have enough pieces in place to be earn a post-season bowl bid. They return eight starters on offense and 6 on defense, but the big issue is can they score and can they improve in turnover margin. Last year they were 106th in scoring offense and 112th in turnovers, just too much to overcome for the solid Wyoming defense.

Quarterback - Running the show at least for now will be returning starter Kartsen Sween, the junior threw for 2,028 yards and 12 TD’s but also had 17 interceptions. The Cowboys have brought in sophomore Dan Crum, the JUCO transfer has a good arm and will be given every chance to win the job right up to the start of the season.

Running Backs - The Cowboys have a solid running game led by senior Devin Moore and a capable reserve in senior Wynel Seldon. Moore is the speed guy who rushed for 965 yards and caught 24 passes, Seldom runs between the tackles and he chipped in 554 yards with 8 scores. When Wyoming goes to the two-back formation junior Greg Genho will get the call at fullback.

Receivers - If the Cowboys are going to get over the .500 mark they will need someone to step forward and become the go to guy. On the outside senior Chris Johnson will get the call at the X, coming out of spring he may be that guy. Sophomore Travis Burkhalter will also be on the outside at the Z, he must use his speed better to stretch the field. Redshirt freshman Brandon Stewart has earned the inside H slot and should be a fixture in Laramie for the next four years. Junior Greg Bolling is the Cowboys leading returning receiver with 35 receptions for 275 yards, if his grades are in order he’ll be on the field. Junior Jesson Salyards will get the call at tight end, he won’t catch many balls but will contribute to the running game.

Offensive Line - It’s a veteran unit with FIVE returning starters led by senior Kyle Howard at right tackle, he gotten better every year and he has 1st team ALL-MWC talent. At the other tackle spot will be junior Ryan Otterman, sophomore Sam Sterner and junior Russ Arnold will be the guards and the man in the middle will be senior Tim Bond at center. The running game will depend on how much this group improves, there’s no time like the present.

Defensive Line - Upfront the Cowboys return all three starters, to a unit that was ranked 27th nationally against the run. Junior John Fletcher will be at one end, he was 2nd team ALL-MWC last year, he a big end who excels against the run and in addition he had 10 ½ sacks. At the other end will be Mitch Unrein who chipped in 5 sacks, inside will be junior Fred Givens, a solid under looked run stopper.

Linebackers - Returning for his final season is senior Ward Dobbs, who’ll start on the weakside, he’s been the team leader in tackles for the past two seasons and should end his career with ALL-MWC honors. Senior Mike Juergens will be at the Buck position, also starting will be junior Weston Johnson on the strongside and redshirt freshman Gabe Knaptom in the middle.

Defensive Backs - There are no questions at the safety spots where the senior duo of strong safety Quincy Rogers and free safety Michael Ray both return, they’re both big and help against the run but need to improve when the ball’s in the air. At the corners look for sophomore Marcell Gipson and junior T.J. Atwater to start. Gipson missed last season for personal reasons but he possesses excellent skills, Atwater will rely on his quickness to make plays.

Special Teams - The placekicking duties will be a battle between junior Jake Scott and true freshman Austin McCoy, sophomore Nick Landess will handle the punting. The return game is solid with senior Devin Moore and redshirt freshman Brandon Stewart.

Schedule - Look for Wyoming to get off to a good start with three victories before they travel to BYU. The middle of the schedule is tough but if they can get to UNLV with a .500 record their bowl chances will be good. Many of the pieces will come together and the Cowboys will get 5-7 wins this year.

Wyoming gets off to a good start with 3 wins before going to BYU. The middle of the schedule is tough but their bowl chances look good. The pieces come together and the Cowboys will get 5-7 wins.
